About the event

Malaysia and the GCC are currently initiating and exploringthe scoping of an FTAGCC countries comprise of BahrainKuwaitOmanQatarSaudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates(UAE). Possible scope of an FTA includes trade in goodsrules oforiginsanitary and phytosanitarytechnical barriers to tradecustoms procedure and trade facilitationtrade remediestrade in servicesintellectual property rightsinvestment promotion and protectionMSMEdigital trade and economic cooperation, among others. The start of the negotiations could happen as early as this year. Your inputs will help shape Malaysia’s position with regards to the initiating and scoping of the FTA. 

 

BACKGROUND - REVIEW OF THE MALAYSIA-PAKISTAN CLOSER ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT (MPCEPA)

 

Malaysia and Pakistan signed MPCEPA in 2007 and the agreement came into force in 2008. MITI is currently exploring the possibility of revising all chapters and enhancing commitmentsin specific products and services under the MPCEPA.
